Impact’s 6-week Anger Control Training (ACT) course is designed to empower individuals to accept responsibility and learn healthy skills for managing frustration and anger.
Through guided instruction and candid interaction, participants will learn to identify underlying beliefs; recognize their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and diffuse conflicts.
Each individual must be willing to fully engage in the process by being open to learning new skills, doing the associated work, and sharing their experiences.
This course is available to anyone ages 19 and older. It is specifically designed to meet the requirements of DHR and court system referrals.
Characteristics of those who may be in need of ACT:
- Uses inappropriate discipline
- High levels of tension
- High levels of impulsivity
- Lack of empathy
- Low tolerance of frustration
- Self-defeating anger
- Low self-esteem
- Problems being assertive
- Difficulty coping with stress
Over the 6-week course, participants will discuss:
- Irrational Beliefs
- Distorted Thoughts and Feelings
- Emotions
- Behaviors
- Physiological Responses
- Assertive Communication
- Identifying Adaptive/Maladaptive Responses
- Consequences
The cost is $120 for the 6-week course. All participants are required to start and finish the full cycle, as lessons build on each other.
ACT is beginning its last cycle of classes for the 2022 year November 1 and currently not recruiting. We will be working on a calendar for ACT classes in January. Check back for availability.
